SPIEGEL Interview with Iran's President Ahmadinejad

Dated: May 30, 2006
SOURCE: SPIEGEL

SPIEGEL: Mr. President, you are a soccer fan and you like to play soccer. Will you be sitting in the stadium in Nuremberg on June 11, when the Iranian national team plays against Mexico in Germany?

Ahmadinejad: It depends. Naturally, I'll be watching the game in any case. I don't know yet whether I'll be at home in front of the television set or somewhere else. My decision depends upon a number of things.

SPIEGEL: For example?

Ahmadinejad: How much time I have, how the state of various relationships are going, whether I feel like it and a number of other things.

Saddam execution victims still alive, claims witness

Dated: Wednesday, May 31, 2006
SOURCE: The Standard

A defense witness in Saddam Hussein's trial over the killings of Iraqi Shiite villagers claimed many of those allegedly executed are in fact alive and said the prosecution case is built on bribes.

A defense witness in Saddam Hussein's trial over the killings of Iraqi Shiite villagers claimed many of those allegedly executed are in fact alive and said the prosecution case is built on bribes.

The anonymous witness said he was a teenager in Dujail in 1982 when an attempt on Saddam's life led to what the prosecution has termed a massive crackdown on the village, hundreds of arrests and the execution of 148 people.

"The prosecutor said they were executed, but I am telling you I ate with them some time ago" and that 23 of them were alive, said the witness, who had worked at Baghdad's Abu Ghraib prison in the mid-1980s.

"Many of them have gotten rich and occupy powerful positions," he said, as he testified from behind a curtain, going on to write down the names for the judge.

"If it is true and these people are still alive, this whole case should be reconsidered from the beginning," said the lawyer for Awad al-Bandar, whose revolutionary court under Saddam sentenced the men to death in 1984.

Saddam and seven associates are on trial for crimes against humanity stemming from the arrests, torture and execution of Dujail villagers as well as the destruction of their property.

The witness charged that the whole case was fabricated.

Primacy

by Andrew A. Anissi

Masako crossed her legs. This time she caught a quick glance from the receptionist, who was obviously trying hard not to stare.

With a frown that would have been puppy dog cute if it wasn’t so menacing, Masako fixed the receptionist with a glare that said, “Don’t you dare look at me.”

The receptionist coughed and buried his head into his work. He coughed again a few seconds later when the clock struck 3:00 pm, and the therapist’s door opened.

“Good,” Masako thought. “I was getting bored playing with that peon.” Following the shrink into his office, Masako smiled and stuck her tongue out at the reception playfully as she swung her Hello Kitty bag over her shoulder and sauntered out of his pathetic life.

An Analysis of Power Without Versus Power Within

The effects of the exertion of human will can be separated into two different categories: effects on that which is external to the individual (“power without”), and effects on that which is internal to the individual (“power within”). For the purposes of this analysis, the individual’s physical body will be regarded as external, applying a dualist view of reality in which the individual is Soul and everything else is Nature. The Soul could be described as a hybrid of mind and spirit (what the Ancient Egyptians referred to as “akh”), while Nature could be described as everything else, or the subject matter of sensory experience.

This dual system of power creates a dual system of resolution to virtually any problem experienced by the individual. A problem is resolved either by power without, or power within, unless the situation resolves itself, in which case it was never really a problem, but only the illusion of a problem, from the individual’s perspective.

U.S. Patent Office re-examines Amazon's 'One Click' patent

Dated: May 18, 2006
SOURCE: Seattle Post (reprinted from AP)

SEATTLE -- At the request of a New Zealand actor upset about a slow book delivery, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office is re-examining Amazon.com's patent for "1-Click" online shopping, which allows pre-registered users to buy items with a single click of the mouse.

Actor Peter Calveley sought the reconsideration in documents filed in February, pointing out that a patent for similar technology was issued in March 1998, about 18 months before Amazon's. The Patent Office agreed last week that Calveley had raised a substantial question about the appropriateness of Amazon's patent, documents posted on its Web site show.

Calveley wrote on his blog that his crusade is revenge for an "annoyingly slow" book delivery from Amazon. He used the blog to raise the $2,520 reexamination fee.

Amazon's patent was highly controversial during the tech boom of the late 1990s, when several other online businesses claimed it was overly broad and that the technology wasn't very original. In 1999, Amazon obtained an injunction that forced rival bookseller barnesandnoble.com to go to two clicks - first on the item, then a separate click that confirmed the customer wanted to buy it. That case was eventually settled out of court.

Dobbs: Bush speech satisfies nobody

by Lou Dobbs
Dated: May 17, 2006
SOURCE: CNN

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Bush's address from the Oval Office on border security and illegal immigration failed to satisfy either advocates of amnesty or those demanding that the government secure our borders and ports. Whether by design or not, however, the president did manage to advance public awareness of both crises.

The president finally acknowledged the unsustainable social and economic burdens of permitting millions of illegal aliens to forge documents, pressure our public schools and hospitals, and overtax our local and state budgets.

And the president, in asking for more border patrol officers and sending 6,000 National Guardsmen to our southern border to support the Border Patrol, also acknowledged the federal government's utter failure to protect the American people by securing our borders, across which as many as three million illegal aliens enter this country each year.

President Bush's five-point plan began with the words, "First, the United States must secure its borders." But the president did not assign any urgency to the national task of doing so. Deploying as many as 6,000 members of the National Guard to help secure our broken border with Mexico is positive step.

But the president's proposal to place those National Guardsmen in some sort of adjunct support role is peculiar at best, and without question, woefully inadequate. The president sounded as if he were trying to appease Mexico's President Vicente Fox, assuring him we would not militarize the border. If there is to be appeasement at all, that should fall to the Mexican government rather than President Bush.

Not only are millions of illegal aliens entering the United States each year across that border, but so are illegal drugs. More cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine and marijuana flood across the Mexican than from any other place, more than three decades into the war on drugs.

Greek Gods Prepare For Comeback

It has taken almost 2,000 years, but those who worship the 12 gods of ancient Greece have finally triumphed. An Athens court has ordered that the adulation of Zeus, Hera, Hermes, Athena and co is to be unbanned, paving the way for a comeback of pagans on Mount Olympus.

The followers, who say they "defend the genuine traditions, religion and ethos" of the ancients by adhering to a pre-Christian polytheistic culture, are poised to take their battle to the temples of Greece.

"What we want, now, is for the government to fully recognise our religion," Vasillis Tsantilas told the Guardian. "We will petition the Greek parliament, and the EU if that fails, for access to worship in places like the Acropolis, for permission to have our own cemeteries and, where necessary, to re-bury the [ancient] bones of the dead.

About 98% of Greeks are Orthodox Christian, and all other religions except Judaism and Islam had been banned.

While much of the press seems inclined to focus on showing illegal immigrants protesting the Immigration Bill, the Bill arose in Congress because most of the country is very strongly in favor of it, both on the right and on the left of the political spectrum.

On the left, supporters of the Bill realize that Illegal immigration is destroying everything that unions and workers groups have worked for, including minimum wage, safe working conditions, and an 8 hour work day. All of our country’s achievements in protecting working Americans are gone when Americans have to compete with the new virtual slave caste created by Big Business, and who work for a dollar a week at extra long hours and in terrible working conditions. This is in addition to pretty much every other achievement of the American left, including social security, welfare, Medicare that are consumed by illegal aliens who aren’t paying into any of them. If there is a crisis in Social Security or in any of these other areas, it’s for this reason.

On the right (but not on the “neo-conservative” right), Americans realize that an open border could ruin this country. When foreign governments aren’t actually controlling our ports and our other points of entry, they know that there’s free access all along our borders due to lack of enforcement. We’re fighting wars all over the world supposedly to stop terrorism and drugs, and meanwhile terrorists could waltz right across our border from Mexico, and trucks carrying illegal drugs enter our country every day. The current Immigration Bill was sparked in part by sightings of the Mexican Army actually crossing over our border and shooting at Americans to help drug smugglers cross over successfully. These are acts of war, but the President’s only response was to call up the Mexican President and ask, “What do YOU think we should do?” The Mexican President’s answer obviously did not call for tighter border security. Whether or not these armed gunmen were actually part of the Mexican military or were powerfully armed members of Mexican organized crime disguised as official military, they still represent a significant threat. See Jerry Seper, “In uniform, with official ID, 'madrinas' help move drugs”, The Washington Times, April 25, 2006.

Bushite Neo-Cons Responsible For May Day Immigration Protests

Dated: May 1, 2006
by Paul Joseph Watson and Alex Jones
SOURCE: Infowars.com

US PR Firm Hired by Bush and Fox to Stage Illegal Immigrant Demonstrations

Today's massive immigration protests which are being afforded lavish and complimentary media attention were orchestrated by the Neo-Cons and the Bush administration and represent a fifth columnist movement openly intent on destroying America as we know it.

The agenda is multi-faceted and includes protecting government drug-running operations, balkanizing the US and lowering the standard of living, and inciting race riots that lead to the justification of martial law and internment procedures being implemented.

As we reported last month, in late December 2005, Mexican President Vicente Fox hired a lobbying firm to sweeten political sentiment in the US towards Mexicans and the immigration issue. The same PR expert and GOP political consultant helped George W. Bush defeat Ann Richards for the governorship of Texas in 1994 and worked on both Bush's presidential campaigns.

Rob Allyn of Rob Allyn & Co. secretly engineered Fox's 2000 presidential victory and is closely tied with George W. Bush.

There can be no doubt that a foreign government is working in tandem with the government of the United States and a powerful, politically-connected public relations firm to manufacture consent and to hold back a growing grassroots movement to defend America's sovereignty.

The LA Times reported that Vicente Fox hired Allyn & Co. when the rumblings of immigration reform began to be heard in Congress. The firm was hired to create a mechanism to sway public opinion in favor of Mexico and Mexican immigrants into the U.S. at the same moment public concern over border security was beginning to reach a fever pitch. The timing is impeccable.
